How to Make Water Kefir
Ingredients:
Water kefir grains (I got mine from Cultures of Health)
3 cups filtered water.
1 tablespoon organic cane sugar per cup of water.
Instructions:
Prepare Sugar Water: Dissolve 3 tablespoons of organic sugar in 3 cups of warm filtered water. Let cool to room temperature.
Feed the Grains: Add the water kefir grains to the sugar water in a clean glass jar.
First Fermentation: Cover the jar with a breathable cloth and let it ferment at room temperature for 24–48 hours.
Strain: Remove the grains using a strainer. The grains can be reused immediately for a new batch (If you have too many grains as they grow, I feed them to my dogs).
Second Fermentation (Optional): Pour the strained water kefir into another glass jar, add fresh fruit or herbs, and let ferment for another 24 hours for added flavor! Stella loves eating the fruit from these!
